Catching Fish in Cold Water

Finding Fish at a NEW Fishing Spot! Bank Fishing at a Public Park

Finding Fish at a NEW Fishing Spot Bank Fishing at a Public Park - Realistic Fishing

In the first episode this week: I’m out there finding fish at a new fishing spot. Despite sometimes having to compete for space, bank fishing at a public park can be rewarding. When I first start this fishing trip, I’m not catching any fish. Instead of giving up , I move over to a different spot at the same park. I end up catching a couple of small fish so that gives me some hope. I move one more time trying to find more fish. I settle across the way and finally start catching some big bluegill.

Finding fish at a new spot can be a challenge, but if you don’t give up and you move around and try new spots at the park, you just might have some success.

Fishing in Cold Water for Crappie and Bluegill (Float and Drop Shot)

Fishing in Cold Water for Crappie and Bluegill Float and Drop Shot - Realistic Fishing

In this episode we see that fishing in cold water for crappie and bluegill can be a challenge. Using a float and a drop shot, in the end I manage to catch a decent size crappie and a few bluegill. I even catch a small bass. The float rig catches the crappie and the realistic rig catches the bluegill and the bass. When the water is cold, it can definitely be harder to catch fish, but they can still be caught! If you try fishing for bluegill and crappie this fall, try a float and drop shot in cold water. You just might catch some bluegill, bass, and crappie just like Realistic Fishing.

Realistic Fishing With a NEW Lure I Found a New ONE Inch Minnow - Realistic Fishing

In this episode we check out a new one inch minnow I found to try! So today we’re doing some realistic fishing with a new lure. I purchased this lure from Diesel Baits (#notsponsored) and I got to design these baits myself. I got to choose the color, the glitter, the hardness and that was part of the fun. The first time trying out this lure, I caught a few bluegill and a crappie, not just any crappie, but a nice black nosed crappie.

Realistic Fishing with Earthworms (Artificial) – Gulp Worms Catch Fish

Realistic Fishing with Earthworms Artificial Gulp Worms Catch Fish - Realistic Fishing

In this episode I’m doing some realistic fishing with some artificial earthworms. These gulp worms catch fish, especially bluegill. A week or two ago I tried these same exact worms and couldn’t get a bite to save me. But today is a different story folks. I end up catching a bunch of bluegill in a short amount of time. The fish all measure between 4 and 8 inches which would definitely be enough for a meal. This just goes to show you a bait that doesn’t work in one situation just might work in another, even if it’s just a few days later. So if you have some Gulp Earthworms, maybe give them another try.

Fishing at the Log vs Boat Ramp – Cold Water Fish are Still Biting!

Fishing at the Log vs Boat Ramp Cold Water Fish are Still Biting - Realistic Fishing

In this episode we see the cold water fish are still biting! Today I’m out fishing at the log vs the boat ramp. Since both fishing spots are in the same park, it’s easy to compare. I start off fishing at the log and I catch a couple of bluegill. Then I move over to the boat ramp and I end up catching even more fish. Despite the cold weather, the fish are still biting at both locations. However I do have to say there do seem to be more fish at the boat ramp. I end up catching at least twice as many fish on the same lure. If you have open water near a log or a boat ramp, both are good places to check if the fish are still biting.
