This is winter fishing right now. Can I catch a fish from the bank today? I visit two different locations today as I search for winter fish. The first place I tried to catch a fish is the log. Unfortunately there are no fish at the log right now. However, by fishing at two different boat ramps I made up for it. Using red worms, and a simple float rig, I am able to catch a nice red ear sunfish (shellcracker) and a few bluegill. The fishing is far from easy, but Yes! Yes, you can catch fish right now. It FINALLY happened! I Found bass fishing lures on sale at Meijer! Fishing tackle has become so expensive, I am super excited to find some deals. I read a comment from a subscriber who suggested I try shopping at Meijer for fishing tackle. Turns out, I drove past a Meijer while out of town and I scored big time! I found PowerBait and Googan baits on sale. I picked up over a dozen packs because I never see prices like this anymore. And, these prices are the best for beginners! Maybe the sales at other stores will follow shortly. I ask myself, does this even count as ice fishing? Today I am fishing through the ice, but I am fishing from a dock! The lake is still partially frozen. But that didn't stop me from trying to catch a fish today. I found a few open water spots where the ice was broken. I am really surprised I caught anything today! I caught a few bluegill, and a lot of ice. If any of you out there were wondering, yes!!! You can catch fish through the thin melting ice. Does it count as ice fishing? We are finally doing more winter trout fishing from the bank! Winter fishing in Tennessee can be difficult when it gets really cold. The lake was starting to freeze and wasn't fishable. So I chose moving water below a dam instead. I am using worms and eggs today as I fish the faster moving water. I catch a total of four stocked Rainbow Trout today. It was fun! I am happy to be out of the house again after being frozen in for a week. I hope the weather continues to warm up and the fishing improves. Like I said, winter fishing in Tennessee can be tough. #realistic #fishing

Do you think fishing is too expensive? Fishing wasn't always for rich people! On todays episode of Realistic Fishing I show off several fishing lures that were purchased at amazing prices. Just three years ago, you could find high quality fishing lures on sale for as cheap as $1.00. I don't think prices are ever coming back down, and we are stuck paying $6 or $7 for soft plastics. I see chatterbaits on sale for $16, and crankbait for $10. Just a few years ago they were $4. And you could even find them on sale for much cheaper. I haven't seen any good deals on tackle in the last few years. Sorry everyone, no fishing for a while. A recent snow storm in Tennessee means no fishing for me. I can't even get out of my neighborhood. About 7 inches of snow fell on us in the last 2 days. And since there are no plows or salt in my area, I cant get down the road. And that means, I can't go fishing. Instead I show the snow on the ground, and we look at some fishing stuff in the studio. I really hope it warms up again so this snow can melt and I can go fishing. Today I am looking at some new fishing lures to try once the winter fishing is over. These lures are from Temu as well as the mail! I was reorganizing some of my tackle for the upcoming spring fishing season. I remembered that I had a few more lures to show off so here we are. Today I am trying a new winter bank fishing spot. Can I catch any fish here? I start out fishing from a rocky bluff. I cast to both sides with my live bait. But I can't get a single bite! So I make my way down a path that is covered in smashed pumpkins. I come to another boat launch and have a bit more confidence in the new fishing spot. And, I manage to catch a few fish there! Bank fishing in the winter can be very difficult. Do fish still bite when it cold? Can you catch fish bank fishing in open water, in Winter? Yes and Yes! Fish are cold, but they still need to eat. I typically resort to live bait like red worms when the fishing is difficult, like it is right now. But the fish are STILL biting! Despite freezing my hands off, I was able to catch a variety of average bluegill in a short amount of time. And, I caught all of the fish on just one worm! I know bank fishing when its cold isn't for everyone.
